Interdisciplinary community art pairs emergent community-engaged processes with deep inquiry into the limits and possibilities of materials and media, calling on painting, sculpture, printmaking, large-scale puppetry, fibers, ritual, and/or performance to bring collective vision to life

protest

I cherish opportunities to create in service of social justice movements. I often draw on my extensive experience with parades and puppets to make larger-than-life protest art. I also am a frequent collaborator on interdisciplinary movement art projects, ranging from poster print-ins to mutual aid hubs, youth-centered protests, and portraits of unhoused neighbors.

community

Community art is the heart of my artistic practice. My aesthetic and media range widely - sometimes the only constant is that I am working with other people. I love to work both with other artists and with people who don’t consider themselves artists.

STudio

In my interdisciplinary studio practice, I am always expanding and honing skills and introducing myself to new media and challenges. Portrait and figure painting are a constant. I reject formal definitions between craft and fine art. My work tends to start from a point of inquiry, rather than expressive content: how does this medium like to be used? Does this cord lend itself to precise designs or more organic ones? What can only be achieved with oil paint, with this vine clipped from the garden?

ritual

I create rituals that are often inflected by my relationship to Judaisim. Rituals help community move through grief, mark important life cycle moments, and connect to land

I make custom, naturally-dyed tallitot. For more information and to inquire about a commission, get in touch here.
